Above are two very different locations! The first is the plant nursery at Hong Kong Park, where I sheltered from the rain under the wide eaves of the lovely Colonial HK Museum of Tea to paint the scene. The second is from a photo of the Swift River in Tamworth New Hampshire, which I took last summer.

A spray of colorful new year flowers inspired this painting.
This is a garden area near the Wishing Tree where new year plants are grown.

An outing with my sisters in Sandwich, New Hampshire where these white hydrangias were blooming.

My sister Jody and nephew Grayson are captivated by little Ada.

Painting at Lei Yu mun

We were treated to the spectacle of the Honk Kong Yacht club Round the Island Race as we settled in near the harbor light to paint.

People make offerings at the Tin Hau temple to the goddess of the sea for the welfare of those who venture out on the high seas.

So much to paint at this spot! Another great day.

Tai Tam Bay

As usual, the outdoor painters led me to a great spot to take in and try to capture. A deserted cafe at the waters edge could not be more perfect. Here are some quick studies. I will work on the scene at home and post the finished piece.

Tomorrow the Hong Kong Art Club will go to Tai Tam Bay to paint. I will leave early and hike across the island through Tai Tam Park to join them. It is always fun to join other painters and learn ways to interpret the scene! I will post some photos and paintings on my return.
